The Wallflowers singer steps out with production savant Rick Rubin for his solo debut, an eminently middling run of folk songs that draw on voice and guitar only for gravitas. Jakob doesn’t try to sound more world-beaten than he is, but a quirk or two is much need here to distinguish him from your average cable minstrel.
