ANTI-INFLATION TIP: FORAGE FOR FREE FOOD

Wednesday July 9,2008

WITH Jasmine Birtles...

Summer is the perfect time to take a ramble, so why not pick up a few free meals along the way?

Foraging is basically wandering around the great British countryside collecting anything edible that is growing wild.

Whether you’re walking through the countryside, or even your local area, there are a wide variety of seasonal fruits, nuts, edible flowers and seafood within easy reach, if you know what to pick.

Get some help along the way from a foraging guide. It may sound difficult but there are loads of places you can go to pick up tasty free food.

At this time of year try foraging in hedgerows, woods, and keep an eye out for cherries, gooseberries, strawberries and elderflowers.
