GO TELL IT TO THE BIRDS, SAYS BILLMonday June 9,2008 BILL Oddie is refusing to back down as the row over his “smutty” comments on hit TV show Springwatch threatens to reach boiling point. The BBC received a string of complaints last week after the 66-year-old presenter talked of a female sparrow “asking for it” and “getting it” and a bird feeling “horny””.
One viewer said she had to explain the meaning of horny to her 10-year-old daughter. But the former Goodies star retorts: “I bet the 10-year-old already knew what horny meant. If she didn’t they should tell her. We are showing mating scenes. Humans do it – you wouldn’t have a 10-year-old daughter if you didn’t. “I am not going to apologise. It’s the behaviour of the birds.” |
