TOO SALTY?: Marmite takes a bashing

Friday October 10,2008

PARENTS have hit out at the “nanny state” after a council banned Marmite from 51 primary schools.

It has been removed from the breakfast club menus in Ceredigion, West Wales, because of its salt content.

One mother said: “It is the nanny state – generations of my family have grown up on Marmite.”

A 4g serving of Marmite contains 0.2 grams of salt.

Maker Unilever said: “But it is not harmful. Only a small amount makes toast tasty.”

THE LIST GOES ON.

13.10.08, 9:17pm

Every day these quirky and silly bans and rules are given out; so many I believe our four countries are becoming a sort of stock joke thoughout the world.Have you heard the one about the English adults in the school for delinquents? The thought that grown men and women give their lives for this country I find depressing.
