SPIES: They can even demand your name and address

Wednesday August 27,2008

By Tom Whitehead Home Affairs Correspondent

AN army of town hall spies who can hand out on-the-spot fines is being recruited by the Government.

Council staff, car park attendants, private security guards and even dog wardens are being used to snoop on the public and issue fixed penalties for minor offences.

Amid accusations of policing on the cheap, they are informing on car tax dodgers and fining people for dropping litter, dog fouling and truancy. They even have the power to demand your name and address.

There are already more than 1,400 so-called “accredited persons” – the equivalent of a small police force – and Home Secretary Jacqui Smith wants even more so they can do jobs regarded as too trivial for the police.

This private army have their own badges and uniforms and a review is under way which could see them given the power to dish out fines for more public order offences.

BUREAUCRATS ? A DRAIN ON OUR RESOURCES.

16.09.08, 1:06am

The fact is that overpaid and unproductive bureaucrats are a total pain in the **** and a drain on the resources and competitiveness of this country. Most of the jobsworth bureaucrats in central and local government couldn't hold down any proper job where their continued employment relied on their efficiency and producing something of real benefit to those who are paying for their "services".
They seem to somehow have got the idea that their role is not to smooth our path through this life, but to make the ride as bumpy as possible. And it is about time that we corrected them, brought them to heel, and made clear their proper function in the scheme of things. And while we are at it it, let's get rid of 30% of them and make the 70% left do a proper week's work. As someone who spent 20 years in local government before leaving to start my own business, I can assure everyone that local government bureaucrats are largely unproductive and, like yellow lines, we would get on perfectly well without them.

GOVT. BUREAU-RATS WORK BEST IN SEWERS

03.09.08, 11:26pm

they are bleedin' insane. current definition of a civil servant in this country ? The bureau-RATS who have nothing up top, and want to share it with you.

Bureau-rats are everywhere - interfering with your weekly rubbish, interfering with the deposit when you let your private property, invading your privacy on the road with their well-planned 'cash for cameras' SCAM, focusing on all the trivia and irrelevancies whilst the important things like FSA corruption are left to their own devices.....

These Govt. bureau-rats work best in sewers, and that is where the majority of them belong.

03.09.08, 12:09pm

WHY ARE WE LETTING IT HAPPEN WE DO NOT HAVE TO JUST SIT BACK AND ACCEPT EVERYTHING THAT IS BEING THROWN AT US,these are jus another FEW people telling us what we can and cannot d. Even on instructions from damn Brussels our Post offices are being shut, not by the Post Office.
A' leaked' letter from the Home Office, all doom and gloom about our future in today's climate, what is Brussels going to do to protect us, sweet F/A, when even our own jumped up bureaucrats in the town halls will now be spying on us,are we all asleep or something, have we no one with the 'guts' to rally the people and put a stop to this rotten dictatorship that is creeping in with a vengance when our lives and our country are no longer our own,it must be stopped we really are worth more than this
