But a leading British imam says the move is unnecessary and has accused police of failing to carry out proper research into the issue.

A COUPLE OF CONCLUDING POINTS
10.08.08, 5:30pm
It is perhaps time to close this very old old thread but I would like to make a couple of final comments in response to the previous post.
1. Humour: So who wants to live life without humour? How depressingly sad it is that some people on here want to impose a dry, colourless life on the rest of us. Is there a law against humour? Did the Pope complain about Dave Allen when he made jokes about a nun's habit? At the end of the day, all we are talking about is just a piece of cloth. Not hate, not violence...... just a humorous comment!
2. Freedom of debate: How ominous it is that some people on here would try to suppress free debate. Is there a law against free speech? Is it not possible to inject humour into debate? How miserable it is that “holier than thou” people on here try to bully others into not expressing their true thoughts, feelings and opinions. Should our innermost thoughts be under Big Brother’s control? Again, we all have our own views about British traditions and we are all free to express them. Others may disagree, but they have no right whatsoever to stop us expressing our opinions.
3. Majority verdict: With regard to the debate, it is sad that some people will never admit that they are wrong or show any flexibility even when the vast majority of other posters have firmly rejected their criticism.
4. Unfair criticism: Finally, there is no truth in the previous poster’s continual allegations that this newspaper should not have published this story as at least 14 other news sources published the same story. I fully support the Daily Express in allowing free comment on a variety of subjects. It would be a sad day when some topics go “off limits” for fear that someone might get upset or disagree. That would be political correctness gone mad.

AND AT LAST
08.08.08, 5:33pm
this bogus thread dissapears...
and as it deserves, not with biftek or anyone else reponding to the obvious and logical arguments against thier way of looking at the world,
but instead with the wimper of a tastless joke apparently gone wrong, and cheezy personal insults provided by a man who has been thoroughly trounced on this thread for providing flawed arguments and believing in stories that are obviously false.
good bye, made up story intended to demonise ethnics... goodbye!
the world is a better place without you.

Off the topic.
Aside, what you find humorous, others deem as offensive. Be respectful to others.

Some people will only see hate...................
Sad.
Life would be pretty grey without a sense of humour.
