SHOULD BRITAIN HAVE TIGHTENED BORDER SECURITY YEARS AGO?

Story Image

Do we need more security?

Tuesday June 24,2008

BRITAIN could have its first border police force under plans drawn up by senior officers.

Chief constables believe the "risks and complexities" of securing our ports and airports are too great for the new UK Border Agency and a separate police force is also needed.

It is an embarrassment for Home Secretary Jacqui Smith who has faced criticism for not including police officers in the Agency set up in April, which merged Customs and immigration staff.

But police chiefs do not want to merge with UKBA, calling instead for a 3,000-strong force with the sole task of protecting our borders.

So do you think Britain should have a border police force? Do we need tighter border security? Should we have clamped down years ago?

SHOULD BRITAIN HAVE TIGHTENED BORDER SECURITY YEARS AGO?

03.07.08, 10:37pm

Of course they should have been tightened. The situation we have now is one of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. None of the services knows just how many illegal immigrants there are in this country at any one time. The ones that are caught are still here months and months later whilst the human rights lawyers get on the gravy train and take it all through the courts. Then at the end of the day some out of touch judge rules that he can't be sent back due to his human rights etc etc. We must be the laughing stock of the world with our inability to deal with illegals and terrorists. It seems to me that we have an open door policy where every man and his dog can just walk in.

IMMIGRANTS IN THE HOUSE OF CONMEN

02.07.08, 1:21pm

Shouldn't all those "immigrants" in the House of Conmen be stopped from leaving their hideouts, have them locked in and the keys thrown away for good?

This would solve almost all the problems this country has.

But no, the mafia gangsters would still find a way out to rip off the public!!!

Right ... I think that we all have it now ........ you dont want your DNA taken .... fair enough.

And your right, any MP whose fiddles expenses should be dealt with ........ and yes our councils are turning into little hitler like establishments.

BUT .............

We do have to protect and defend our borders, we should have done it much much earlier, but its never too late.

OF COURSE WE SHOULD HAVE.....

tightened our border controls years ago. But it is not going to happen, WHY?, because we are in the EEC, and it has an 'open' border policy... Europe has ID cards, anyone without an ID card is 'illegal' is arrested and deported immediately, no appeal, you have broken the law, we don't want you here.

You obviously do not know what you are talking about,it was not the Police that looked after our borders but the Immigration Service and Customs, their sea patrols were on the look out for people entering here illegally and smuggling.,they were on duty in all the ports this was a far happier ,safer country then,I remember it well . You apparently have no liking for this country so why not try elsewhere then you will not have to worry about your DNA, mind you it could be a lot worse elsewhere though
