SHOULD THIS ABORTION PILL BE BANNED?

The second part of the abortion pill will be taken at home

Sunday June 22,2008

CONTROVERSIAL new plans have been released that detail a new 'home abortion' pill.

Under the new plans women would be given the option to take their second dose of drug – which induces an early miscarriage – without the presence of medical staff and at a place of their choice.

The British Pregnancy Advisory Service also wants women to be able have an abortion with the signature of just one doctor, rather than the two currently required by law.

Figures released last week showed Britain’s soaring termination rate is now one of the highest in western Europe.

Last year there was a 2.5 per cent increase to a record 198,500 terminations.

There was a 21 per cent increase in abortions among 14-year-olds and a 10 per cent increase in terminations among girls under 16.

ACCIDENTS WILL HAPPEN

12.07.08, 11:36am

No matter how careful you are, a naughty sperm could get through. No matter how safe a driver you are, you will probably be involved in at least one accident in your driving history. Either someone else's fault or a momentary lapse of attention on your part and it happens.

Same thing goes for human conception. There are already too many people in the world and we all know the consequences of an over-crowded world.

YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT

04.07.08, 6:22pm

I feel that we need to educate young people to take responsibility for their actions ie not get drunk & have unprotected sex resulting in pregnancy. I think we need to instill more self respect in young people.

There seems to be a selfish atitude that anything that gets in the way of what the person wants can be delt with. ie "I can take a pill & the unborne child is easily disposed of so I can get on with my life"

I have conserns for the health of these young women who put themselves at risk of STD's Pregnancy and then go on to further put themseves at risk by taking an abortion pill without adequate medical supervision.........

In my opinion abortion is only justified if a mothers life is at risk or if the pregnancy is a result of rape.

There is no excuse for unwanted pregnancy with the wide array of contraception freely available.

There is also the option to have self respect & use self restraint.

Making abortion pill available in this way sends out the wrong message to young people.

BIRTH ITSELF IS A GREAT RISK TO MUM'S LIFE.

04.07.08, 9:32am

That is why doctors do not like home confinements because if something goes wrong, mum is in big trouble. There is more risk in a full term birth than in an early abortion.
