The BBC received a string of complaints last week after the 66-year-old presenter talked of a female sparrow “asking for it” and “getting it” and a bird feeling “horny””.

One viewer said she had to explain the meaning of horny to her 10-year-old daughter.

But the former Goodies star retorts: “I bet the 10-year-old already knew what horny meant. If she didn’t they should tell her.

Humans do it – you wouldn’t have a 10-year-old daughter if you didn’t.

“I am not going to apologise. It’s the behaviour of the birds.”
