SAMANTHA SAYS: 'CUT'

Wednesday May 28,2008

HER daughter Esme may have made her movie debut at the age of five but Samantha Morton has no intention of allowing a repeat performance just yet.

Esme now eight – whose father is actor Charlie Creed-Miles – played a Shirley Temple impersonator alongside her mum in 2007’s Mr Lonely.

“She put herself into that film,” says Samantha, 31, who played a Marilyn Monroe lookalike in the off-beat comedy drama.

“She was very good. I thought she was so sweet and very little. That kind of happened like a family thing. It felt like I was making a home movie.

"It didn’t feel like, ‘My daughter has gone into the business’ at all. It was very intimate. It was a really beautiful experience.”

But Samantha – who is engaged to film maker Harry Holm and gave birth to daughter Edie in January – says it is not a role Esme will be following up for some time.

“A lot of scripts come her way. I read them and go, ‘No.’”
