Dean Windass: Dream

Sunday May 18,2008

By Colin Mafham

HE is 40 next April 1, but Dean Windass is no fool.

In fact, if everything goes to plan at Wembley on Saturday, he will complete a football fairytale by returning to the Premier League with the home town club that rejected him as a boy.

Windass said: “He was probably right at the time. We have a laugh about it – if football had been played in a living room I would have played for England.

“I couldn’t believe it when Phil Brown sent me a text asking me to come back to the club last season and I helped them stay up. But this is something else.
