Victim Damian Oldfield

Saturday May 3,2008

By Paul Jeeves

CHUNKS of flesh from a murder victim were found simmering in a stewing pot at the home of the first Mr Gay UK, Anthony Morley, it emerged yesterday.

Chef Morley, 35, has been charged with murdering gay advertising salesman Damian Oldfield, 33.

It appears cannibalism may also have been involved after cooked segments of human flesh were found at the alleged murder scene.

Police raced to Morley’s home in the early hours of April 24 after a distressed man, in a blood-drenched white nightgown and slippers, had gone into a take-away restaurant in Leeds.

Officers found Mr Oldfield’s naked body lying on a bed at Morley’s nearby terraced house.

After sealing off the area, detectives were then horrified to discover diced up pieces of leg and chest flesh in a cooking pot on a hob.

There were also pieces of flesh in a kitchen waste bin. Toxicological tests showed the flesh was human. Officers are consider the possibility that whoever killed Mr Oldfield may have eaten some of him.

A murder charge was read to Morley at Leeds magistrates court earlier this week.

Mr Oldfield had met Morley several times but they were not in a regular relationship. Morley became the first Mr Gay UK in 1993. He spent a year opening gay events and performing at theme nights.

Mr Oldfield’s mother Denise said on the tribute website Gone Too Soon: “You didn’t deserve this. I never thought I could feel pain like I do now. My heart has been ripped out and not only have I lost a precious son but a soul-mate and companion. You will never know how much you will be missed and how far the devastation reaches.”

Morley reappears at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.
