DIANA: IT WASN’T MURDER

Story Image

CORONER: Scott Baker

Saturday March 1,2008

By Richard Palmer Royal Correspondent

THE coroner overseeing the Princess Diana inquest has ordered the jury to rule out the possibility that she was murdered.

Yesterday, Lord Justice Scott Baker ruled there was “not a shred of evidence” to allow them to conclude Diana and her lover Dodi Fayed were assassinated by MI6 on Prince Philip’s orders.

The coroner, citing the need for evidence beyond reasonable doubt to uphold a verdict of unlawful killing, threw out the possibility the pair were killed in a crash orchestrated by the Duke of Edinburgh or anyone else.

He said: “There is no evidence that the Duke of Edinburgh ordered Diana’s execution and there is no evidence that the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) or any other Government agency organised it.”

His decision dealt a severe blow to Dodi’s father Mohamed Al Fayed, who has fought for a decade to prove the pair were murdered by spies because Philip feared Diana was pregnant by Dodi, a Muslim, and about to get engaged.

The coroner said even Mr Al Fayed’s lawyers had dropped many of the conspiracy claims after hearing testimony from more than 250 witnesses. Instead, they now relied on the theory that Philip’s fury at Diana’s decision to date Dodi created a climate of hostility that persuaded rogue MI6 officers to launch a freelance operation to frighten the couple at the least, he said.

The coroner, directing the jury on five possible verdicts they can reach, said the six-month inquest has dispelled many myths about the deaths of Diana and Dodi.

He said: “The benefit of these last six months is that various propositions that were being asserted have been shown to be so demonstrably without foundation that they are no longer being pursued by Mohamed Al Fayed’s lawyers, even if he still carries the belief of their truth in his own mind. They are not being pursued because there is not a shred of evidence to support them.”

He told jurors Mr Al Fayed’s beliefs may be genuine but he added: “A belief expressed in legal proceedings which is unsupported by evidence is worthless.”

Diana, Dodi and their stand-in driver Henri Paul, the acting security manager at the Paris Ritz Hotel, died after their Mercedes hit a concrete pillar in the Alma underpass in Paris just after midnight on August 31, 1997.

There was laughter in court as the coroner made a reference to John Loughrey, a self-confessed Diana “superfan”, who has attended every day of the inquest.

He told the jury: “No one except you and I and, I think, the gentleman in the public gallery with Diana and Dodi painted on his forehead has sat through every word of evidence.

“No one is as well-equipped as you are to decide the facts of the case.”

Summing up the evidence, he dismissed claims by renegade former MI6 officer Richard Tomlinson that rogue MI6 agents may have murdered the couple, using a bright flashlight in a plan echoing one to assassinate Serbian leader Slobodan Milosovic in the early 1990s.

The coroner suggested Tomlinson was wrong and had fabricated his claims to embarrass his former MI6 bosses. No flashlight was mentioned in the first drafts of his book, which had described the assassination plot as a drive-by ambush.

The coroner said there was a welter of evidence to suggest Diana was on the pill, had a period mid-August and was anxious not to get pregnant.

“The only evidence that Diana was pregnant comes from the mouth of Mohamed Al Fayed,” he said, pointing out that the Harrods tycoon claimed the Princess told him she was expecting in a phone call an hour before her death.

“On the other hand, there is a great deal of evidence that she was not pregnant, although you may think it cannot be proved with absolute scientific certainty that she was not.” He added: “The issue fairly and squarely raises Mohamed Al Fayed’s credibility. Is he a man on whose word you can rely?”

The coroner suggested there was no evidence to support claims that Diana’s body was embalmed illegally to cover up her pregnancy. The embalming was done lawfully and Home Office pathologist Dr Robert Chapman, who carried out a post mortem on the Princess in London, said it would not have prevented him finding evidence of a foetus. He did not find anything, he said.

On claims that the couple were engaged and had bought a ring, he suggested there was conflicting evidence. He also said nothing had been found to support claims Prince Philip sent Diana threatening letters. He also dealt with the Princess’s fears, famously expressed in a note to her butler Paul Burrell and in a conversation with her lawyer Lord Mishcon, that she was in danger of  being killed on the orders of her royal in-laws.

He noted several of Diana’s confidants said she regularly expressed fears for her safety but they were never sure how seriously to take them. “You will have to decide whether Diana did truly fear for her life and, if she did, whether such fears were justified,” he said.

The coroner will continue summing up today. The jury is expected to retire to consider its verdict tomorrow.

THERE WAS NEVER GOING TO BE A FAIR INQUEST BY ..........

02.04.08, 2:26am

There was never going to be a fair inquest by anyone who holds the title of Lord. Do the people honestly believe that a man can be fair who has been either knighted by the queen etc or is an hereditary peer. The whole system is corrupt. Masonic demons all of them.

I used to be a supporter of Freemasonry and admired all it stood for regarding the charities etc but now I see it the society for what it really is and that is evil. To have a beautiful young woman who would have made a great Queen murdered because she was in the way of a idiot prince and his mistresss is the biggest insult to the people of Britain ever.

Prince Philip did treat her badly and the thing is if true that he is the backbone of the House of Windsor should have put his foot down with Charles regarding Camilla. But no they indulged him like the spoilt child that he is and two young men was robbed of their mother. Charles is so self pitying saying that his mother never showed love etc does he not realise selfish idiot that rthanks to him and Camilla his two sons can/will never see their beloved mother again.

Poor England what an awful place you have become run by people with no sense of justice.

YES IT WAS BUT IT JUST CANNOT BE PROVED AS THE .........

02.04.08, 2:13am

Yes it was but it just cannot be proved as the secret service's made sure they covered their backs to the last little detail. We the people won't ever believe this jumped up Inquests verdict and it's not because we are merely conspiracy theorists but because Diana's death was too convenient for the royal family.

The coroner is an evil man and I hope that one day he lives to regret this decision sins of the father and all that.

LOOK AT THIS MAN, WOULD YOU...

01.04.08, 11:42pm

No surprise there, Baker! You have done your duty to the Crown and have sewn the final threads in this stitch-up! You're a genuine piece of work. Look at you, with your beady and shifty eyes and your narrow, tight-lipped slit for a mouth. You could be a used car salesman but I certainly would NOT purchase a car from you. Actually, I would NOT buy anything your peddling particularly this WHITEWASH. The British people aren't stupid, therefore stop thinking we are. We are NOT the people who are stupid. You and the lot of the British Establishment as well as the sycophants who hang on the coattails of the British Establishment and many of whom prowl the Express and other forums are stupid. These sycophants will buy into anything which spews forth from an Establishment mouthpiece like Baker. He didn't get to where he is today in his profession as well as rewarded with the Establishment title of Lord Justice by stirring it. He never rocked the Establishment boat. Rather, he's been a good servant and always did as he was instructed.

Lord INjustice Baker had no right to order the jury to rule out the possibility that Princess Diana was murdered. What's the point of having a jury if they are instructed what verdict to deliver. Juries, including the Princess Diana and Dodi inquest jury are to remain impartial. The fact that Baker ordered the jury to rule out murder informs that Baker himself knows that Princess Diana and Dodi were murdered. He sounds and behaves like someone with a great deal to worry about.

Then this afternoon, the French authorities submitted some new evidence and INjustice Baker has more or less dismissed the evidence. Since the new evidence has to do with Henri Paul, it will come as no surprise that the Establishment on both sides of the Channel are still trying to stitch-up Henri Paul as a drunk which he was NOT. The blood samples from ten years ago were NOT Henri Paul's but that of a suicide. This has been proven.

Even with the comfortable verdict that the Royal family needs and which they'll receive, will NOT allow Princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed to rest in peace, specifically Princess Diana as she said she wouldn't go quietly and the same holds true currently. Princess Diana will NOT rest until THE TRUTH wills out. Princess Diana is more dangerous now physically deceased then she was when she was alive here on this Earth. Princess Diana is NOT constrained by time as she has all eternity and she'll continue her crusade for justice and truth for herself and Dodi al Fayed. And so will Princess Diana's supporters who know she was murdered.
