The family of a British teacher murdered in Japan are launching a poster campaign to mark the first anniversary of when she was last seen alive.

Lindsay Ann Hawker, a 22-year-old teacher, was found murdered on March 27 last year. Her family hope the high profile campaign will help find her suspected killer, Tatsuya Ichihashi.

As police officers went to question the 29-year-old at his flat in Ichikawa, east of Tokyo, he fled and has not been seen since.

Japanese police then made the gruesome discovery of Miss Hawker's body, which was on the flat's balcony in a bath filled with sand.

Her parent's Bill and Julia, along with her sisters Louise and Lisa, will launch a poster campaign to mark the first anniversary of the day she was last seen alive.

The new poster shows computer-generated photofit pictures of what Ichihashi could look like one year on.

Mr Hawker, 55, said it was believed he is being helped by a third party.

On Sunday he called on the "honourable people of Japan" to help find Ichihashi.

He told a press conference: "Almost a year ago my other beautiful daughter, Lindsay, as you know, was murdered here in Japan.

"I now wish to appeal to the honourable people of Japan, particularly to the families of Japan, to help me find Tatsuya Ichihashi. Be assured the Hawkers will, as a family, never give in. We want justice for my daughter Lindsay."
