SHOULD BRITAIN CLAMP DOWN ON ASYLUM CLAIMS?
The UK was said to be the third most popular destination
By Tom Whitehead
BRITAIN has received one in 10 of all asylum seekers who fled to the world’s leading industrialised countries over the last five years.
According to the United Nations, the UK was the third most popular destination just behind the US and France.
Figures reveal that asylum claims rocketed by 15 per cent in just three months at the end of last year.
The numbers were driven by more than 2,800 refugees arriving from Afghanistan last year and over 2,000 from Iraq, where nearly twice as many sought asylum in Britain than in 2006.
It means there has been one asylum claim for every 323 people in the UK between 2003 and 2007.
The damning figures also follow a drop in the number of failed asylum seekers being deported from the UK.
Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migrationwatch, said: “In recent months the number of claimants has edged up while the number of removals has fallen sharply. This can only encourage more false claimants.”
Figures from UNHCR, the United Nations refugee agency, showed that 187,730 people claimed asylum in the UK between 2003 and 2007 – 10 per cent of the 1.8million claims in the 43 industrialised countries.
Do YOU think Britain should be clamping down on the amount of asylum seekers entering the country? Why do YOU think we are the third most popular destination for them?

I was saying about there being little in the press re the MCB.
You have directed me, and others to a MCB media site....
On a normal day, how many people would visit the site?
Not many!!!
If they are condemning terrorist operating in the UK, they should do it in the British public arena, i.e. via newpapers and on the television news.
Not via their own Muslim papers. Not many British members of the public would subscribe to reading them.

You must be joking though!
The links you have quoted are from the Muslim Council for Britain.
Now, why on earth would *i* WANT to read anything on THAT website?????????
That says more about you than anything else.
When I am saying there is nothing in the media criticising the terrorists, I mean on the BBC, ITV, Sky News etc.,
Not a Muslim backed forum of any description.
How telling...
And as Back_to_Basics pointed out, your defence of the gay fraternity is totally out of synch with your Muslim defence.....
The two are total opposite ends of the scales!!!
Only you obviously don't realise that!

But I don't want to read it, so I won't read yours!
I've got far better things to do, than read your left wing pro-Muslim stuff!!
What is that funny noise....ahhh yeah.
Barrel scraping, the sound coming from you, trying to insult me by using a man in drag....
Well it don't work, so you ain't succeeded!!

'Why bother though, no one on here wants to trawl through all this!! '
After all, reading all that would give you facts which might challenge your bigotry and intolerance and mean you can't go around unjustly slagging off Muslim representatives any more.
Please do criticise them if you've got a basis to do so but back it up. Its a new thing called rational argument, lets hope it catches on.
