REVEALED: THE FACES BEHIND THE VOICES

Story Image

The Radio 2 girls are unveiled

Sunday March 16,2008

By Nikki Murfitt

THEIR voices win marriage proposals and gifts of underwear from listeners – they are the ladies behind Radio 2’s traffic and news.

And here the Sunday Express can, exclusively and for the first time, reveal the faces that more than 10 million of us listen to every week.

We got the Radio 2 news and traffic stars together for this one-off photo.

They are, from the left, Sally Boazman, Lynne Bowles, Fran Godfrey, Janey Lee Grace, Bobbie Pryor and Rebecca Pike.

Roads reporter Sally Boazman (Sally Traffic) says: “Millions feel they know me, yet I go to Sainsbury’s and no-one’s got a clue who I am.”

Rebecca Pike (Foxy) presents business reports. “Listeners seem to think I’m tall, blonde and curvy. But I’m 5ft 6, dark-haired and half Chinese,” says the 39-year-old.

Newsreader Fran Godfrey is described as on the padded side by Terry Wogan. “I appeared on TV and got an indignant letter from a man who told me he was disappointed because I was too thin and angular. He obviously expected more curves.”

Travel reporter Bobbie Pryor enjoys her rapport with listeners. “You couldn’t have the closeness if you worked on TV,” she says.

Lynn Bowles likes all the teasing but is serious about her traffic role. “A lot of people rely on us and you can’t take that lightly,” she says.

Writer on green issues Janey Lee Grace started on the Steve Wright show and credits listeners with launching her career.

REVEALED FROM RADIO 2

17.03.08, 9:05am

They must have hidden the really minging ones away then.

Fenella Fudge- posh totty cutie newsreader should have been in that picture too(sigh). I can see why Ken Bruce sounds so chipper in the morning with his harem of travel cuties.

In a further attempt at investigative newsreading can the Express get the girls back in the underwear the listeners have sent in.
