STONES TELL AMY TO STAY OFF DRUGS

REHAB: Amy Winhouse

Monday February 18,2008

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse was yesterday warned to cut down on her drug-taking – by the Rolling Stones.

Guitarist and ex-heroin addict Keith Richards, 64, said: “She should get her act together.”

Sir Mick Jagger, 64, who was jailed in 1967 for possessing cannabis, said: “When we were experimenting with drugs, little was known about the effects. In our time, there were no rehab centres – anyway, I didn’t know about them.”

Jagger has previously voiced concern for 24-year-old Amy who recently scooped five Grammys including Song of the Year for her hit number Rehab. He said: “I’m worried she might die if she goes down the road she has taken.”

Richards’ reputation for drug-related antics led to claims that he had snorted his father’s ashes.

The Stones’ ex-manager, Andrew Oldham, a former drug addict, said: “People might think this is rich coming from them. We took drugs but when it interfered with work we said goodbye.”

Reformed bad boy Jagger now gets his kicks from eight-mile runs, swimming and kick-boxing.

Winehouse refused to comment yesterday except to say she still regarded the Stones as her friends.

BRAT ATTACK!

19.02.08, 6:39am

She should be grateful for her success and try to make the most of it, rather than snorting it up her nose and having brat tantrums at her fans!

With respect, she's not the best looking girl in the world, and I'm sure there are other talented singers out there who would kill for the opportunities she has been given! These people will never get the chance, whereas Winehouse has had it handed to her and yet all she can do is abuse it!

She is no Mick Jagger or Keith Richards - talent-wise OR success-wise, so if THEY can keep their drug habits under wraps, even in the face of enormous fame, I don't see why this mediocre celebrity can't pull it off??

SMACK HEAD

18.02.08, 7:22pm

At the end of the day she is just another piece of bag rat scum that is not worth wasting your skin on the keyboard, as soon as her other half is out of prison they'll be back promoting drug use to our children. Are the Stones any better? I doubt it.

POP STARS

18.02.08, 12:41pm

Many of the pop idols of the 60s, including The Stones, were responsible for glamourising the use of drugs.
Stars of previous generations might not have been entirely squeaky-clean in their private lives, but they didn't parade their misdemeanours in front of the public in the way that has happened over the past several decades.
