ARE WE TOUGH ENOUGH ON TERROR?

Story Image

The rucksack left by Hussein Osman at Shepherds Bush

Monday February 4,2008

FIVE men including the brothers of two of the failed July 21 London bombers were today jailed for a total of 56 years for helping them in the aftermath of the attacks.

Between them they were convicted of 22 charges of failing to disclose information about terrorism and assisting an offender following a four-month trial at Kingston Crown Court.

Do you think that a combined sentence of 56 years between five people is enough of a deterrent?

If not what do you think would be more appropriate?

Is there that much of a difference between assisting a terrorist and being a terrorist?

EDDIE FOR PM

12.02.08, 8:44am

The 'rules' made by Eddie (07.02.2008) are in some cases harsh and in need of 'refinement'. However in principle they are a perfect starting point.

Our society has become too complacent, in fear of political correctness and a kid gloves approach to everything (Human Rights thing etc).

Today we read about 'The Mosquito Gadget Ban'. The Childrens Commisioner of England Shami Chakrborti says it is an infringement on childrens rights.

Firstly why the hell do we waste money on such a position, secondly she has a true indigenous name (I think NOT), thirdly she is well known to push the Human Rights agenda to the extreme.

What will be her punishment Eddie?

WE NEED TO BE MUCH TOUGHER

09.02.08, 7:21am

In World Wars 1 and 2, any enemy agents or operatives who were not wearing enemy uniforms when captured in Britain were shot. "Undercover" operations by agents hiding among the population could not be tolerated.

Militant Islam is in a state of war with Britain and any foreigner discovered to be taking part in Muslim terrorism should be treated in the same way - i.e. shot: and any participant who had British citizenship should be hanged for Treason.

NO WE CERTAINLY ARE NOT, IN FACT IT IS QUITE THE REVERSE....

08.02.08, 6:37pm

No we certainly are not, in fact it is quite the reverse. What other government in its right mind would allow terrorists to be treated with kitten gloves which is what our government do thanks to the PC brigade, the European courts of human rights (these rights do not apply to decent law abiding citizens though) and the loopholes that are found in the law.

Terrorists and would be terrorists should be jailed for life with no chance of ever becoming free. As far as so called home grown terrorists are concerned they should be charged with treason and then executed without mercy. Do the government have no concern or respect for their fellow Britons to allow this softly softly approach to terrorists ?

I really do think that the Government should give the people a referendum on whether Britain should stay in the EU because most of us can see that we have been worse of since being involved with them. It iis and always has been a well known fact that the Europeans hate the British for various reasons so they quite happy to see the EU strip us of all our power and right to govern and control what goes on in our own country.

Haven't you noticed how all Immigrants are trying to get into Britain rather than other European countries? It is only because the stupid laws of this land allow them to get away with any and everything not to mention the big welcome they recieve in benefits, housing, etc.

2.5%

08.02.08, 5:41pm

2.5 percent of britain considers themselves muslim to a greater or lesser degree. now of course, this will vary, with some areas having many, and most areas having next to none.

but overall, you have to say, if it is an invasion, it is not a very sucessful one.

LOST THE PLOT ?

08.02.08, 7:15am

Maybe.

If you ever have the time have a wonder around the Dewsbury /Batley area....where I was born.
In 50 years this area has become predominantly muslim.

Whem my father was born there were no muslims living here.

As for history.
I am aware of history.
But that is no reason to let Islam invade and inhabit Britain.

ABUELA

08.02.08, 12:42am

i'm sorry but i think you have lost the plot. 'white people' will not become a minority in this country for a ver very very long time.

there are a lot worse things to fear in this world than muslims, thats for sure. calling people evil is dangerous and unchristian.

it seems to me that you have not learned anything form the lessons of history, in germany, or in africa, where such talk and ways of thinking led to the exploitation and death of millions of people.

now you have me worried for your grandchildren too.
