DUKE'S 'CRUEL' LETTERS TO PRINCESS
Inquest hears of Duke of Edinburgh's 'cruel' letters to Diana
The Duke of Edinburgh wrote "derogatory" and "cruel" letters to Diana, Princess of Wales which left her furious and upset, her inquest was told.
Two "nasty" notes Philip sent to Diana criticised her conduct and left her angry, according to complementary therapist Simone Simmons who became a confidante of the Princess.
The inquest has already heard evidence about the Duke writing affectionate letters to his then daughter-in-law as the royal family attempted to save her marriage to the Prince of Wales when it broke down in 1992.
But the therapist claims the letters, one written in 1994 and the other the following year, reveal a different aspect of the relationship between the two senior royals.
Ms Simmons first met the Princess in 1993 when the royal began attending regular energy healing sessions she ran at a clinic. The two women became friends and Diana would sometimes spend up to 10 hours on the phone to the healer, the inquest jury heard.
Ms Simmons told the hearing in late 1995 Diana had a book on graphology - the study of handwriting - and was going through her correspondence with other members of the royal family examining their styles of writing.
She said: "She showed me a couple of nasty letters as we were going though analysing things according to this book. Diana drew my attention only to two letters that really upset her. Diana read one out to me, she was furious and she was imitating the voice of the Duke of Edinburgh."
Nicholas Hilliard, representing the coroner, did not ask Ms Simmons to describe the contents of the letter but asked her whether she agreed with the suggestion: "The Duke made cruel and disparaging observations about the propriety of the conduct of Diana." The healer replied: "Yes".
She was questioned by Michael Mansfield QC, representing Mohamed al Fayed, about the notes and told him one was typed while the other was hand-written and both were signed by the Duke.
Talking about the hand-written letter that Diana read out, Mr Mansfield asked: "As far as that one's concerned, would it be correct to say extremely derogatory about her?" Ms Simmons replied: "Yes and very cruel as well," then added that the other letter left Diana "red in the face".
SNOW WHITE AND THE WICKED QUEEN

I don't speak officially for the BNP but I would hazard a guess, in answer to Maggiespants' question, that they would rather see the descendant of centuries of European tradition's head on our currency and postage stamps than that of an African, Arab or Chinaman - a distinct possibility, given the current fad for positive discrimination, if the Queen was to be deposed and carted off in a tumbril.
To return to the subject of the inquest, I confess to being puzzled why time and money is being wasted on what the Duke or the Queen reportedly said or wrote to Diana years before her death in a road accident. Even if Diana was upset, justifiably or not, by their remarks I can't see what bearing these tales have on the circumstances of the crash. It seems to me that there are those who are using this enquiry as an opportunity to engage in a bout of mud-slinging at the Royal family.

IMMIGRANT ROYAL FAMILY
11.01.08, 2:06am
In reply to Maggiespants, what is an "English" Royal Family anyway? This lot have German and Danish ancestry, amongst other things. What about those who preceded them?
William III - Dutch
The Stewarts - Scottish
The Tudors - Welsh
Plantagenets and Normans - French and Norse
If Harold was regarded as the last English king what would you propose? Putting his decendents (whoever they are) on the throne? Anyway, the English are immigrants from Europe and so are the Celts.
What are your ethnic origins Maggiespants?

MAKES ME WANT TO PUKE

What would anyone expect from this free loading German immigrant. The Greeks had the good sense to kick these inbreds out, why have we and why [most of all] have the BNP not called for their expulsion?
If they want this bling of a soap opera which is what these descendants of mass murdering dictators are then why are they not demanding the return of the English royal house I wonder.

WHY DO WE PUT UP WITH FAYED?
10.01.08, 9:13pm
It was Fayed's drunk/drugged driver who was responsible for the deaths of two people .Why wasn't he tried for corperate manslaughter? He should have been deported long ago.

CRUEL LETTERS
10.01.08, 4:40pm
I saw the practitioner of "energy healing" staggering to the inquest on crutches on the lunchtime news.
The fact that Diana got involved with this sort of mumbo jumbo says a lot to me about her character.
Was she being at all manipulative in showing these private letters to an outsider? I think she probably was. I also believe that she had a very high opinion of herself, despite the shy glances, and wouldn't have been one to brook any criticism of herself, even if justified, lightly.

DIANA´S INQUEST
10.01.08, 3:54pm
Why are we bothering about this loopy woman? How much money is being spent on this farcical inquest, which will only reach the same conclusion, she died as a result of an accident. No conspiracy, no plot, no MI5. An accident, pure and simple. Nothing important has come out so far as far as I can tell. Time to forget and move on.
