Leeds will demand £100,000 to release Greg Eastwood

Friday July 30,2010

By Martin Richards

LEEDS will demand £100,000 to release homesick Kiwi international Greg Eastwood from the last two years of his contract so he can return to the NRL.

World Cup winner Eastwood, 23, joined Super League champions Leeds at the end of last season on a three-year deal, but has not settled – as the Daily Express first revealed in April.

Eastwood wants to return to Canterbury Bulldogs, where he spent last season, but they refuse to pay the full price and could look for a swap deal.

Leeds, who have consistently denied there is a problem with Eastwood, could not hide their disappointment at his request to move.

“We’re proud of our record of attracting overseas players and making them feel welcome. Greg has failed to settle,” said chief executive Gary Hetherington.
