ROWING PALS BEG WILLIAM'S KATE TO JOIN CHANNEL RACE TOO

Kate Middleton

Sunday August 19,2007

By Charlotte Heathcote

KATE Middleton’s glamorous rowing team The Sisterhood are pleading for her to rejoin them after a key member dropped out.

Team leader Emma Sayle said: “We have all felt Kate’s absence ever since she left, but now we’re really missing her.”

The women face the gruelling Sisterhood Challenge next Saturday when they race their all-male Brotherhood rivals across the English Channel.

Kate, who is on a make-or-break romantic holiday in the Seychelles with Prince William, was forced to drop out of the Sisterhood following pressure from Clarence House.

Emma admitted that  helmswoman Kate played a crucial role in the team.

“She’s very level-headed and mentally strong and that’s why she was put at the helm in the first place, instead of being a paddler.

I especially miss her because we helmed the boat together and now I’m going to have to do it by myself.

“It would be wonderful if Kate could step into the breach. But she remains every bit as much part of the Sisterhood as she ever was. She was one of the gang.”

Teammate Antonia Bothner has described Kate’s role as far more challenging than it looks.

“When I tried it, I found getting my head around being the rudder to a long wooden boat that moves in the opposite way to how your brain has been trained, while balancing on the narrowest bit of the back of the boat, damn difficult.”

Emma is sure her Sisters will win the race. “We have a far higher pain threshold and are mentally stronger.”

The women have so far raised £95,000 for two children’s charities.

SAFETY FIRST

20.08.07, 6:52am

The concern is that the paparazzi will follow her crew the day of the race in boats of their own. Can you imagine trying to row and having to fight boats with motors surrounding you? It would be dangerous for Kate as well as her mates.

I don't know why she was asked to step down in the first place. Afterall it is for charity and, Clarence House should keep their noses out.

ROWING PALS BEG FOR KATE

19.08.07, 11:27am

What a shame kate isnt allowed to be back with her mates, so much for girl power hey ? This could be her last time to be normal in her life.

After a week with wills , i bet kate would love to be in with the girls and back handling the tiller. For the charity and for herself i wish kate would rejoin the girls and head for the channel.
