LIFE SENTENCE FOR KIYAN'S KILLER
Stabbing victim Kiyan Prince was a promising young footballer
A teenager has been told he must serve at least 13 years for the murder of promising young footballer Kiyan Prince, 15, who was stabbed to death outside his school gates.
Somalian refugee Hannad Hasan, 17, was given a life sentence at the Old Bailey for Kiyan's murder in May last year.
Kiyan, who played for Queens' Park Rangers' youth team, was stabbed through the heart when he intervened to stop a play fight outside the London Academy in Edgware, north west London.
Hasan, who was in the year above Kiyan at the school, trapped his victim in a headlock and produced a penknife, which he plunged into the boy's heart.
The 17-year-old, who lived with his mother in Colindale, north London, admitted manslaughter but was convicted of murder earlier this month at the Old Bailey after three trials.
He stood in the dock with his head bowed as Judge Paul Worsley told him he had shown little genuine remorse for killing the popular, talented schoolboy.
The judge said: "This is yet another case of a wholly unprovoked stabbing in a public place, by a person who produced a knife and plunged it into the heart of their unarmed victim."
He went on: "Taking the life of another is always a terrible thing, taking the life of a talented, popular 15-year-old schoolboy who was known to you and who had done you no wrong and had everything to live for defies description.
"You have deprived his family and schoolfriends of a role model," he added.
The judge described victim statements from Kiyan's parents, which were read out in court, as a moving tribute to "the bright star in their lives".
WHAT IS A LIFE SETENCE?
27.07.07, 8:50am
It is such a shame that poor Klyan Prince was stabbed to death, I cry when I hear these things, such a promising young lad, his life is cut short, his parents have lost a son, a young man, maybe also of ever becoming a father and making his parents grandparents, but still that is the sourness of life we are here on borrowed time, not to be killed though. OK then there is law? What law? What are the judges doing here? Why are they being so unfair to the victims family? Why why why do I ask again and again are they giving life to a killer, and saying he must serve 13 years? Is that life for me life is life and never coming out alive. Shame on the judges who are giving these sentences, poor Mr. Prince will not come back in 13 years, no he will never be back, and this killer will still be able to come out and make a family of his won, or maybe even kill again? Let us all cry out that when it's life must be life and the accused must come out on four wheels and cold? That is the reason why we are haveing more killing and more wrong doings, the judges are not being fair on the good citizen, but brave and cool with the bad. Judges please when you say life, mean life that is forever, and the accused must not have TV's and radios and all luxury things.
I am a parent and feel the sorrow of all.

TAXPAYERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS

13 years is too long. I'd have him on a plane, back to Somalia within 13 days. UK taxpayers should not have to foot the bill to supervise and feed criminals who come here and destroy lives.

HOW MANY MUST DIE TO STOP THIS MADNESS
26.07.07, 2:05pm
So what the race relation industry has to say on that?
It's not the first serious crime committed by someone who wasn't supposed to be here in the first place but it's clear mainstream politician don't care.
I suggest anyone to keep in mind this every time someone attacks the British National Party.
The real hatred is spread by the political elite that is forcing native Britons to acept a multiracial society against their wish,to suffers the negative consequences of diversity and to live in fear of prosecution if someone dares to make a complaint.
The BNP are only defending the legitimated demand of native Britons to remain in charge of their native country.
