STRESS CITY: Glasgow

Friday July 3,2009

By David Scott

GLASGOW is Britain’s most stressed-out city, according to new research.

Scotland’s biggest city turns out to be the glummest place in the UK, closely followed by Wolverhampton and Leeds.

On the other hand, people in Bradford, Brighton and Oxford can boast of being the most laid back.

The biggest issues troubling Scots at the moment is a lack of money and relationships. The heatwave isn’t helping matters either.

Psychologist David Moxon said: “The regularity and cumulative effect of hassles appear to take their toll on people who do not have effective coping strategies.

“When we look at specific regions, there does appear to be somewhat of a UK north/south divide. It seems people are more worry-free in the south.”

The research, conducted by Fosters beer, also found the most laid-back celebs included Scots tennis superhero Andy Murray, 22, DJ Chris Moyles, 35, and Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton, 25.

The biggest names in stress are singers Lily Allen, 24, P Diddy, 39, and Britney Spears, who is 27.

The research was conducted by monitoring the Twitter feeds of thousands of Brits and celebrities to see what they wrote about.
