FANS 'SET TO RIOT' AS CITY FACE A CRISIS

Sven-Goran Eriksson

Thursday June 21,2007

By Richard Tanner

SVEN-GORAN Eriksson is facing a massive backlash if he is named boss of Manchester City – with fans also threatening to “riot” over the club’s crisis situation.

City supporters are growing increasingly disturbed by the allegations of corruption and fraud facing the club’s proposed new owner Thaksin Shinawatra in his native Thailand.

Shinawatra had more of his personal assets frozen by the military junta in Bangkok yesterday, but is still pressing ahead with his £150million takeover of City.

Dave Wallace, editor of influential City fanzine, King of the Kippax,  said: “It’s a very dodgy situation. The players are due back in training in the next two weeks and we haven’t got a manager or a new owner. If nothing happens soon, then there’s going to be riots.”

A BLUE DOO

21.06.07, 10:43pm

Manchester City and Sven were made for each other. They both have big ambitions and constantly under achieve. Why are there concerns about the potential new owner? Half the premiership clubs are owned by crooks and swindlers so why not City?

SVEN, THE MYTHMAKER - SAD, INDEED!

21.06.07, 9:15pm

So, Sven is, perhaps, going to manage City. Please don’t get too excited; after all, we’ve witnessed this man’s ability, or lack thereof, when at the helm. From my perspective, Sven, is proficient at one thing and it isn’t managing footballers, even the, supposedly, top-notch ones.
If I was a City fan, which I’m not, I’d be tad miffed, to put it politely. Frankly, I can’t fathom how or why this man is in demand, especially, in the Premiership.

I've sussed it, why not Salman Rushdie?
It would increase the gate enormously, even if most were after the manager.
Remember who told you first.

COME IN NUMBER SVEN!

21.06.07, 2:50pm

(GSmith): Claudio Ranieri’s gone to Juve….he was given a 3 year contract on 4 june…so you can forget that one.

Personally I look forward to that clown Sven on MOTD coming up with great excuses “well errrr…I errr….you caarn’t win ever-ery game…so err….”

It’ll be as funny as when Christian Gross almost took Spur down to the (old old) Div 2.

Bring on Sven….

If Manchester City don't offer the manager's job to
Claudio Ranieri, then they really will have a death
wish and will deserve to die.

S-G ERIKSSON!

21.06.07, 10:51am

Mr Eriksson showed his full capabilities when he "managed" the England team, and took them to the pinnicle of nothing!..Splitting his time between checking out the local talent, and football management...His mind was "On the job",allright, but unfortunately not football ?....Why should a man who has "proved" he now has very little or no ability or interest, be forced onto a club that he has recently said he has no interest in!......poor Manchester City?
...............Go home Eriksson!
