EXPRESS COMMENT

PM MUST ROLL BACK POWER OF THE STATE TO CUT TAXES

Thursday May 15,2008

GORDON Brown yesterday made a typically clunking attempt to show he is in charge of the political agenda by unveiling plans for lots of new parliamentary Bills.

The Prime Minister claimed his draft Queen’s Speech showed that Labour could be trusted to create a “fairer, more prosperous” country.

But another tidal wave of half-baked legislation is the last thing Britain needs. Instead of creating new laws which will further expand the domain of the State, the nation is crying out for a leader who will save cash and cut taxes by getting the public sector back to basics.

While Mr Brown was waxing lyrical about being “on the side of the British people”, statistics told a different story.

Unemployment has begun to rise, the housing market remains fragile and the Bank of England’s scope for reducing interest rates has been curtailed by an upsurge in inflation. None of this need mean a fully fledged economic slump if the right corrective action is taken.

But the only way to boost consumer confidence and protect living standards is by delivering vastly better value for money in the state sector and sharpening incentives for wealth creation.

People want police on the streets, good schools, clean hospitals, reliable bin collections and public transport that runs on time. They do not want and cannot afford the armies of health-and-safety chiefs, race-relations officials and quangocrats who clutter up the public sector. Neither should they any longer be expected to fund preferential pensions packages for public servants.

Ministers must also clamp down on the freeloaders infesting the country – both the home-grown ones who live on benefits when they could be working and the imported ones who abuse the asylum and immigration systems to set themselves up here at our expense.

If these goals were pursued with zeal, huge sums could be returned to taxpayers and the economy put on a sound footing. Instead Mr Brown is presiding over the impoverishment of the British people and enrichment of the British State.

The country will not recover until he is gone.

GORDON BROWN IS AN AVATAR

15.05.08, 12:14pm

for Walter Mitty.

He lives in his mind and does not seem to see the damage he has done, and is still doing. He Ignores the electorate he is supposed to be representing. He exercises blind obedience to every dictatorial directive from unelected EU bureaucrats that enjoy no mandate or legitimacy to govern. All the while lying to his electorate about the nature of the EU Constitutional Lisbon Treaty, and renegging on sworn and solemn manifesto pledges to give the British people a say upon whether they wish to accept government by the unelected and unaccountable Brussel bureaucrats who operate under an authoritarian constitution that is set up as a police state.

Well Mr Mitty we want our vote NOW.

Treason...Treason...Treason...Treason...Treason

Better Off Out. By a long way.

Get rid of Labour.
