The 30-year-old, who is dating Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins, can now be seen on Virgin 1 with natural phenomenon-chasing thrill-seekers in Gethin Jones: Danger Hunters.

“My training from Blue Peter pushed my limits and now I’m not sure what my limits are,” says Gethin.

“Where do I go from here? Why was I at 3,000 metres in New Zealand, trying to snowboard down one of the worst gradients in the world? I don’t snowboard that well, I’ve been to Val d’Isere twice!

“Something inside me says, go on, give it a crack. If I get scared, I’ll say I’m scared. If I want to cry, I’ll cry.

“Mind you, I only cried once on TV on Blue Peter, when I was training with the Royal Marines Commandos.

“I had this big piece to camera ready for when I finished and I just blubbed! It’s probably because I was in so much pain.”
