ACCIDENTS WILL HAPPEN

12.07.08, 11:36am

No matter how careful you are, a naughty sperm could get through. No matter how safe a driver you are, you will probably be involved in at least one accident in your driving history. Either someone else's fault or a momentary lapse of attention on your part and it happens.

Same thing goes for human conception. There are already too many people in the world and we all know the consequences of an over-crowded world.

YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT

04.07.08, 6:22pm

I feel that we need to educate young people to take responsibility for their actions ie not get drunk & have unprotected sex resulting in pregnancy. I think we need to instill more self respect in young people.

There seems to be a selfish atitude that anything that gets in the way of what the person wants can be delt with. ie "I can take a pill & the unborne child is easily disposed of so I can get on with my life"

I have conserns for the health of these young women who put themselves at risk of STD's Pregnancy and then go on to further put themseves at risk by taking an abortion pill without adequate medical supervision.........

In my opinion abortion is only justified if a mothers life is at risk or if the pregnancy is a result of rape.

There is no excuse for unwanted pregnancy with the wide array of contraception freely available.

There is also the option to have self respect & use self restraint.

Making abortion pill available in this way sends out the wrong message to young people.

BIRTH ITSELF IS A GREAT RISK TO MUM'S LIFE.

04.07.08, 9:32am

That is why doctors do not like home confinements because if something goes wrong, mum is in big trouble. There is more risk in a full term birth than in an early abortion.

I'm sure most atheist's have moral values & can understand the dangers of the HOME abortion pill.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

Tristam you said ............."Fortunately, I thank God I am not religious but tend to be guided by science and logic."

If You are not religious Why are you thanking God?

The dangers of the "home abortion pill" are that the woman may haemorrage.

Surely preventing unwanted pregnacy is a far better option..............We need to install more self respect & moral values to young women.

Abortion should only be needed if the mothers live is indanger or the prgnancy is the result of rape. The abortion should only take place with FULL medical supervision.

EGGS, EMBRYOS AND FOETUSES

02.07.08, 2:34pm

It's a matter of scientific and theological arguments as to what constitutes life as we know it. I take the firm belief that life starts when baby takes it's first breath.

If a woman wishes to abort at any stage, it is entirely her choice as it is her body and no one else has the right to dictate; only to advise. Yes, or course old boy, my mum could have chosen to abort me at any stage but I would have still popped out somewhere else in the universe. I am extremely grateful that it was in England.

I do not believe that an embryo is life as we know it therefore, as far as I am concerned, if by farming eggs in laboratories, you can relieve humanity of chronic illnesses and disabilities, that cannot be bad.

When I hear of all these religious people wanting to ban embryo research, I would like to ask them again when they are diagnosed with an illness such as Parkinsons, MS or some other horrible disease, if they don't mind being treated and cured as a result of embryo research.

Fortunately, I thank God I am not religious but tend to be guided by science and logic.

TRISTRAM

I don't think you get it. To slip a pill into her cornflakes, as you put it, makes it OK then. I think not! I think if you teach your daughter about moral standards in the first place, then there would be no pregnancy to worry about. Furthermore, what about the unborn child? It didn't asked to be in a womb of some girl, and like every baby, it has the right to life. To reitterate, if the mother does not want the baby after delivery, adopt it.

NO, OF COURSE IT SHOULD NOT BE BANNED

29.06.08, 12:07pm

If my daughter came home and announced that she was pregnant, I'd slip it in her cornflakes.

ABORTION PILL AT HOME- RIGHT? WRONG?

25.06.08, 11:23am

Again, it seems women are expected to go it alone, be it going to a clinic for advice on an abortion or actually going the whole hog and having it. An abortion is a serious, life-changing act, so why is it being trivialised and shrugged off as another pill to rid you of worry? Just give any vulnerable, confused woman a pill to destroy her problem and she can hemerage at home and deal with it alone. Disgusting. If the government is prepared to give women the option of having an abortion at all, they should be prepared to provide support for these women in the aftermath. I don't think it should be an option to have an abortion at home, especially in a time where the number of under-16 abortions are rising. Surely providing a home-abortion tablet will increase the number of abortions which the UK government cannot keep track of in its endless list of statistics?
