Should greedy Labour cut fuel tax immediately?

THE Government’s windfall from the spiralling cost of oil has smashed through the £1billion mark.

LETS DEAL WITH THEM WITH THE HELP OF THE DAILY EXPRESS.

23.06.08, 10:06pm

I say we should choose one petrol company and everyone who agrees should buy from that one fuel company. I get my fuel from Shell as they seem more consistant in pricing regardless of where the fourcourts are based. I've found that when buying fuel from them they tend to be a penny cheaper than the national average and all the supermarkets i've seen. In fact i've seen the supermarket forecourts prices rocket recently and they seem to structure their prices from one area to another. This to me is price fixing and when you have a town with few forecourts they tend to hold the consumer to ransom.
Lets get together and boycot certain fuel station companies and force them to reduce prices. If we do this they'll have no choice but to reduce the cost of the fuels they provide as they watch their profits nose dive. It will make good business sense for them to make some profit than none at all and other petrol companies will follow suit as they would be afraid of the backlash being aimed at them.
Come on people and the Daily Express, Lets gang up on them and turn the tables.

GET IT CUT DOWN BROWN.

23.06.08, 9:56pm

Yes the government should cut fuel tax.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't be paying tax on fuel but i, like many others, feel we shouldn't pay as much as we do now.
LABOUR, you were voted in to run the country as best as possible to make the lives of the people in the UK as easy and as enjoyable as it should be. Instead your crippling our public services, allowing crime to spiral out of control and your extorting drivers in the most heinous manner with fuel and vehicle duty.
60% fuel tax is just bang out of order and it needs to be reduced significantly. You'll suffer at the next election because of your behaviour and i doubt if you'll ever run parliment for many, many years to come as a result.

CUT FUEL TAX NOW - OR ELSE!!!

16.06.08, 5:14pm

We are in the grip of another Brown made crisis and this could probably be the worst one yet. The rising price of fuel is freezing our mobility, ruining our prosperity, causing inflation through record high distribution costs and adding to the economic woes caused by the bungled handling of our economy and worsening economic recession. Brown should be cutting fuel tax now to restore some stability but he cant because his economic mismanagement and waste of public funds have landed this country with so much debt that he and his Darling muppet are no longer in control. He grabs every penny of windfall taxes to fund his past and present excesses without caring a damn for the consequences.

With Fuel tax and VAT Brown is stealing half the price of the current £1.36/litre at the pumps. The fuel tax was designed to be a green tax to try and reduce the use of and dependency upon fossil fuels. The high price of crude oil is now acheiving this efect without the addition of a fuel tax. There is no reason for the fuel tax to remain. The fuel tax should immediately be cut by 50% to bring us back to an average £1/litre. Brown should not have mismanaged our economy to the extent that he is totally dependent on fuel tax to survive, he should cut his extravagant spending and economise as the rest of us are being forced to do, if he can't do this he should be replaced by somebody who can. A total 60% tax on fuel is disgraceful at a time when we are facing a national crisis and the real tax level is even higher when you remember that he has already taken 30%(Income tax and NI) from your earnings even before you buy the fuel.

This horrible government is not going to listen to our plight, they do not have a clue on crisis management. They have not the wit to do other than profiteer from windfall taxes and hope everything will come all right in the end. This time it isnt going to work. The international oil shortage is not going to go away. We need urgent and immediate action to force a change of policy and or government. Something like the last lorry owners blockade is probably the only solution but this time they should not give in until the Brown creature is removed from office.

FUEL TAX

14.06.08, 1:45pm

Yes I do think the government should make some reduction in fuel taxation to compensate for the rising cost of crude oil.

I also think it would be helpful if the Daily Express refrained from sensational headlines such as those in the Daily Express on Saturday 14th June which only incline people to panic buy fuel. I am referring to the headlines on the front page and also on page 5.

There is responsible journalism and irresponsible journalism and I'm afraid that the Daily Express falls into the latter category. When I read a newspaper I want to read the facts, not the opinion of the writer of the article.

GREEDY LABOUR

05.06.08, 2:17am

I know there is a system in place where the Queen can request the resignation of the Prime Minister, but is there anything in place that can save us suffering any longer under this diabolical regime.Oh is that what is called a revolution
Another thing isent it true that it was a European directive that the Royal mail should not have a monopoly on our postal system and because we had to open up for competition we have to close our post offices and hasent france made a bid to purchase that franchise.
Is this some big game of monopoly that Britain is destined to lose. What about all the public property this greedy goverment has sold off, where has that money gone.Schools, playing fileds, hospitals, all gone, just to stoke the coffers and make this party look good and we are still in a mess, what next? The Government should serve the will of the people not the other way around.

FUEL PRICES!!

03.06.08, 11:12am

It is about time the British public got their act together and influenced this rip off in an objective way!! The Daily Express have run many campaigns, so how about this?? Start the campaign to cease purchasing fuel from BP and Esso!! This is not so difficult to achieve.
Blast it across the front pages! Make the people sit up and take action at the pumps. I am not saying we stop buying fuel, just that we direct it away from the two main companies.

Start a price war! Show the Labour government that we can influence this injustice! The government are reaping the rewards and they too should be brought down! They are without doubt the biggest bunch of rip off merchants ever to be in office!!
Cmon Daily Express!! Start the campaign now!!!

GREEDY LABOUR

02.06.08, 3:06pm

Why do we pay more for diesel than petrol?

I thought everyone knew that one. About 10 years ago this government encouraged more car manufactures to design and produce more diesel cars. They said they were less damaging to the environment giving off less emissions, were cheaper to run due to higher mileage per gallon and the government put less tax on diesel than petrol, noticeably in the yearly budgets.
It was all designed to entrap the unsuspecting public as after listening to government spin and the economical benefits of diesel, manufacturers made more effort to make diesel cars more attractive with better performance and of course the public started to buy diesel cars and they became all the rage. It was cheaper, more mileage per gallon but most of all good for reducing global warming.
Thats when the government moved by stealth, bit by bit year by year they have increased tax on diesel as they now realised that a larger percentage of British motorists had switched to diesel.
So after encouraging more of us to switch to diesel with lower cost incentives, they now switch tactics and reap in the benefits, it has been one of this governments most classic cons and deceptions, I am surprised more has not been said about it.

TAX FREEDOM DAY

02.06.08, 7:06am

Here's a new twist to Brown and this government regarding tax!

Tax freedom day

The reality of living under this ‘tax em till they bleed’ government - Nu labour!

If you had to pay all of your tax at once, how long would it take you? How much of the year would you spend working for the government before you get to keep any money yourself?

Well, in 2008, you would have to work until June 2 before you had enough money to pay your tax bill off entirely. That is according to the Adam Smith Institute – which has declared Monday, June 2, tax freedom day.

The calculation includes all the income the government gets from taxes - both direct (such as income tax) and indirect (such as VAT). At the moment, the government takes about 40% of the total income of the country in taxes.

http://money.msn.taxbuddies.com/newsb.php?id=63

Every penny of the first six months of your salary earned at work goes to the government and this figure does not include extortionate, additional household basic charges and expenditures encouraged by this government’s policies and directives, especially to local authorities and councils. The government encourage this, to enable them to simply have to pay less to councils out of central government Westminster funds. They include community charges, traffic and parking fines, wrong day bin taxes, fines for recycling the wrong rubbish in designated bags, new on the spot fines for dropping a cigarette stub or crisp packet in the street and so on.

This government are also big into Carbon emission fines, national insurance charges, prescription charges, University fees, congestion charges in London but coming to a city near you, the list goes on!

I know people will say ‘yes, but whatever government gets into power will squeeze the tax payers’ but come on? This Nu Labour government with their mismanagement of our economy gradually over the last 11 years, must take the biscuit. They are the worse government for hidden revenue raise policies and tax that the British public have ever experienced in the history of our modern democracy.
We are now one of the most taxed countries in the world. For example, in America, their petrol and diesel is less than half the price of ours, yet the American public are still up in arms and the unions are threatening to shut down the country with industrial action. We have recently seen the French reaction of blocking the ports and showing their disgruntlement, the French police actually belong to the same union as the protesting port workers, how cute is that?

Personally , I have had enough, as I think most of the British population have. People talk about the low popularity ratings of the unelected Gordon Brown, I think that whoever leads this government will not change the dismal polls for the government. You only have to read the financial reports about our Holy Grail that governs all our credit spending and feel good factor, the diminishing equity in our homes, to realise that we are in for hard times. Yet this government continue with a policy were we all have to work (in real terms) for the first six months of the year before we can put a loaf of bread on the table.

Have a nice day at work Britain!

YES OF COURSE.

01.06.08, 6:50pm

MPs come back from one of their many holidays tomorrow. Be interesting to see how NuLabour MPs react to the latest polls.

When you see how GB has lowered NuLabour's standing in the country you would never think he had a majority of over 60, and not the single figures John major had when the Tories last lost popularity whilst in power.

Gordon Brown has wasted the majority he had when he came to power, by dithering, waffling, and then making snap unthought out descisions to try to get a few headlines.

Gordon Brown is totally unsuited to lead the Labour party, let alone this proud nation. He will never make an even half decent Prime Minister.

Its time he Went, he should never have been.

SHOULD GREEDY LABOUR CUT FUEL TAX IMMEDIATELY?

31.05.08, 1:50pm

Is it not time that this incompetent shower did something honourable. For once take responsibility! From day one they have consistently lied & deceived the public. We have been robbed, on a regular basis, of our hard earned money. Only to have Broon squander it on goodness knows how many useless ideas. The motorist is a 'cash cow'. Darling has certainly come out with more drivel. What they fail to see is that we have a ever decreasing amount of money, they are the ones with big incomes & yet they still prey on us!! I'm fed up with hearing that so many have been taken out of poverty, yet they fail to say how many more they are driving into poverty. They have shown nothing but contempt for the honest working person, whilst they gladly line their own pockets & polish their own egos!!! This shower is nothing but an unmitigated disaster for which we have to suffer for far too long!
