AND ANOTHER THING...

09.05.08, 2:32pm

If four of you share a taxi, you can travel anywhere in the country far cheaper than any public transport.

I AGREE WITH PART OF WHAT VINCE SAID...

09.05.08, 2:30pm

Yes, why do people own cars that have 3 litres and larger engines? Why do people drive cars that do over 150 MPH when the national speed limit is 70?

However, let us spare a thought for folk who do not live in the centre of London which, is the vast majority of people of whom, a car is a necessity rather than a luxury. We simply cannot afford to travel by public transport and if fuel doubles in price, it will still be cheaper by car. If you have one passenger, the price is halved and with a full car, your price is quartered. Four people travelling from London to Cornwall by train will cost £400 but by car, it works out to about £30 to £40 and the car makes door to door service. There is no contest, you cannot uninvent the car or people's freedom.

CORRECTION TO OH YES!

05.05.08, 12:50pm

I should have written $10 not £10 a gallon in the South of England

OH YES!

05.05.08, 12:46pm

I have just come back fro Panama a country unlike us that has to import 100% of its fuel and it cost $3.80 or £2 a gallon including State tax unlike the equivalent price of £10 per gallon in the South of England.
With Brown taking some 80% of the price here in tax just shows how horiffic the cost is to us long suffering tax payers to fund Browns wasteful policies
He is a disaster as was Blair a disgrace to competence and common sense.
But why should he apply commonsense when he has used a chaffeur driven limo for the past 11 years paying not one penny for his fuel, so why should he give a fig for what we pay?

GREAT OIL ROBEERY!

02.05.08, 9:14am

The government is a major partner in this great oil robbery and looting the motorist with every conceivable stealth taxes including use of old, rusty dodgy vans with speed/traffic cameras.

The local councils have been given draconian powers to raise money so that the central government can keep the part of the money that has to be given to the councils.

The multinational organisations, which now have most of those retired, corrupt politicians on their board of directors are "legally" looting the public and causing the inflation.

There is now a desparate need to form a ANTI-CORRUPTION PARTY to expose these thieves and mafia gangsters.

DAVID RUSTON

I totally agree with everything you have said. We the people have the power in our hands to change things, but we don't use it, we just accept everything thrown at us, and it is not just fuel, its everything that goes with living costs. I have mentioned a few times on here regarding using public transport and leaving the cars at home. We know fine well it couldn't cope with millions of workers trying to get to work on time. The man hours lost would be astronomical and the economy would really suffer, as it wouldn't be a few minutes late, you are talking hours in most cases. You wouldnt have to threaten strike action anymore, just public transport action.

The cost of petrol doesn't hurt MPs in Government or not in Government, because the tax payer pays for it, in their claimed expenses, no matter what it costs.

The people of this Country are lied to from all angles, and the Government don't listen to us, they humour us.

I never voted for my Country to be invaded by foreigners, I never voted to join the EU, I never voted to send Billions of our money in aid to every Tom, **** and Harry, abroad, I didn't vote for all the wars we are involved in. The system of Government stinks to high Heaven.

FUEL PRICES, FUEL TAX AND ACCEPTING BRITONS

30.04.08, 8:00pm

The government will keep on attacking the motorist and the haulage firms simply because we don’t act we simply continue to accept the increases. Why don't we make a stand: The government want us to leave our cars / vehicles at home and use public transport so lets ALL do just that? Lets all get up next Monday the 5th May 08 and go to work on public transport. Now how many people can't actually get to work on public transport or more to the point, can public transport cope? Simple answer is no but that’s what the government want so lets do it. The country will loose millions in hours as the whole country grinds to a halt. Now that will send a very painful message home to our government leaders. But I guess this won’t happen because we as a country will go on accepting the government stealing our hard earned cash!!!
Wake up people and do something constructive, if we all do this or a majority do this then we might get somewhere.

AND WHERE DOES THIS LOOT GO?

30.04.08, 9:29am

"At the same time, the Government is raking in an extra £123million a month in VAT compared to this time last year from drivers stung by petrol and diesel increases. "

Considering the state of NHS, schools (Education! Education! Education!) road, railway, airports, etc., the question still remain where does all this looted money go?

The teachers, junior doctors or others have not seen any substantial increase in their wages/salaries or pensions!

To pay for obscene salaries, pensions and immoral allowances to these politicians and their hencmen - the so called Executives in the Central Government and incompetent middle manages in the local councils?

WHY?

30.04.08, 8:41am

NOW CAR TAX, THE LESS WELL OFF BEING HIT YET AGAIN.

30.04.08, 8:19am

I am so angry to hear today that this thieving sneaky government are about to hit the less well off again by raising car tax on older cars.
The very people that probably can't AFFORD a new car are being penalised with yet higher taxes once again.

THIS GOVERNMENT HAS TO GO!

This has nothing to do with climate change or protecting the environment, it is ALL ABOUT MORE AND MORE TAX.

LABOUR OUT!

PETROL PRICES SKY HIGH!!!! 2

30.04.08, 4:08am

The big rip off merchants are at it again owners, government and unions all want their cut but we are the ones who pay. They all w2ant to do less and get more, you can't beleive the hardship we cause if share holders can't make another billion every three months, the goverment cant make more taxes so that they can create more public and private sector jobs for the unions who can then strike for more money for less hours work.

THEY ARE ALL CRACKERS
