A round of applause for Speedbird. This pair of losers bahaved like the Beckhams, posing for photographs. I wonder if the other children have been forgotten - they have been subjected to the same day to day existence. It's very telling that her parents have nothing to do with her, and also Social Services declared them too old to take Shannon - so leaving her where she was was preferable? The proof of the pudding etc.....

Yes Martha - you are being naive - he's been charged with possessing not down loading child porn so even if it was a second hand computer it was still found on a computer in his possession so he's looking pretty guilty at this time. Though to be fair have you ever seen a family who were a bigger bunch of pikey scum? Thought not! These people think 'Shameless' is a aspirational documentary . When Shannon was (eventually) found people started speculating that the family were involved at some level - maybe thinking of setting up a McCann style fund to raise £1m and then Shannon wld magically re-appear and they wld keep the money - but obviously Forrest Gump and the rest of his pikey friends weren't clever enought to set up a scheme!. I think it speaks volumes that Shannon has elected to stay in the care of the Social Services rather than eturn to her family - she's had a glimpse of the outside world and doesn't want to return - ever!

I agree with all the people who are calling for prospective parents to have to take (and pass) a parenting exam - until that time the 'mother' wld be required to be on some form of reversable contraceptive such as the implant. Families like this shd be removed from benefits and allocated a job (some pikey minimum wage thing such as working in Primark or Mcy D's) - if they 'lose' that job then they lose their council house - simple as that! Time to stop this Liberal bleeting abt 'Human Rights' and start telling chav scum that they won't be tollerated as free loaders any longer and they will have to pull their (considerable) weight in society.

Anyone in possession of child pornography is a monster, a paedophile in the making, and a danger to Society, not to mention to any children within miles of him.

Craig Meehan is not a "suspect" in my opinion. He had pornographic material of children on his computer. He is guilty of a crime and should be treated as such.

Somehow I think of recent events regarding the disappearance, abduction, abuse of children are simply the tip of the iceberg. I shudder to think how many children are out there, at awful risk, terrified, scribbling on walls to get some attention, any attention.

Shannon dear child, I hope that things will get better and better for you. I'm glad your action got some result. God bless you. Good luck. xxx

What is so wrong is that however dysfunctional such breeders are, the taxpayers have no choice about whether to pay them more and more for each extra child. The welfare state has gone way too far on this. Will any political party tackle the problem?

I feel really sorry for this little girl being born into this dysfunctional family. She should definitely be placed with decent foster parents to give her a chance from now on. There has to be a case for compulsory sterilisation for people with absolutely no sense of responsibility for their behaviour.

WHY AM I NOT SHOCKED OR SURPRISED?

Further to my previous comment, I actually feel sad at the realisation that I am neither shocked nor surprised at the latest development in the Shannon Matthews saga.

It is easy to paint a certain picture of what life in that household must be like. As soon as we are told the mum has x-number of children by x-number of fathers, we make an immediate assessment of the type of person she is, etc, etc...

This whole story shows up - yet again - that there are far too many parents out there who really shouldn't be parents at all. Not because they might be paedophiles or child-abusers, but because they lack the basic 'nouse' required to manage their lives properly - and so how the 'fcuk' are they ever going to help a child grow to maturity and become a useful member of society?

To drive a car we need to pass a test...Surely the time is long overdue for a 'Parenting Test' to be introduced.

I know this sounds somewhat right-wing, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Let's face facts; the country is in a mess and everyone is afraid to stand up and admit it or do anything about it.

People are being shot and stabbed and robbed and raped 'every single day'. CHILDREN are commiting suicide....

What a sad, sad mess it all is.

Shannon's story, as I have said, only goes to highlight a string of social problems - problems that have gone unchecked by our goverment(s) for decades.

How can we turn it all around?

Ideas on a postcard please.........
