Should Sharia law be tolerated in Britain?

A SECRET network of Islamic divorce courts is ordering unofficial punishments for women in Britain.

The UK divorce system is generally quite simple: divorce under adultery (third party) unreasonable behaviour; or just an irretrievable breakdown. Personal details don't need to be exposed; you tick one of three boxes.

As for Islam: the hadiths are there for anyone to read: the one that states how one woman has half the value of one man is very revealing.

The young woman who was sentenced to be flogged and imprisoned (in Saudi) for being raped is one example of barbarity.

The Islamic reaction to the Teddy Bear teacher is another.

Honour killings in Britain; hymen restoration surgery in Britain (not a vanity option, but one based on fear) forced marriages; polygamy are further examples.

Dr Suhaib Hasan, a judge in an East London Sharia court, is pushing for personal sharia law to be integrated into the British legal system.

His quote (from the Telegraph) says it all: "If sharia law is implemented, then you can turn this country into a haven of peace because once a thief's hand is cut off nobody is going to steal. Once, just only once, if an adulterer is stoned nobody is going to commit this crime at all. We want to offer it to the British society. If they accept it, it is for their good and if they don't accept it they'll need more and more prisons."

So, he’s advocating quite barbaric practices for Britain. (Since when was adultery a crime in this country???)

DOES ANYONE EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SHARIA LAW?

Why is it that whenever Islam is mentioned the 'opression' of women is always emphasized??
Recently I was in a shariah court where a WOMAN was giving divorce to her husband. The panel of imams unanimously agreed with her and the divorce was granted. The ex husband was told to pay her maintenance for as long as she needs it, not just a final lump sum.
She could have gone through a UK court, but that would have taken months to hand out a verdict. Along with that the embarrasment she would have had to bear on having her personal life exposed. Without an Islamic divorce she would be unable to remarry.
Where is the butchery and oppression and all the rubbish we're hearing in the papers evident in this case???
Is this supposed to be a civilised society? Then why is it that in a civilised society we ignorantly hold myths and believe everything we hear in the media?? Do we not have our own minds to read and then research the topic? How many people actually know what Sharia is, what the rights of women are, why there is a death penalty, etc etc.
Do the masses blindly follow what they read and assume things based on other peoples agendas? How many people have actually studied Islam from an unbiased point of view? Certainly the biggest failure is the elimination of reasoning and undertaking research in order to make solid judgements regarding any topic wether it be the war on terror, climate control, politics or Islam. That is a huge loss.

if dr rowan williams wants shari law why dont he convert to the muslim faith we would do better with out him he should resign immediately
the man is living on another planet we live by our laws they should do the same or leave but they would miss our generous benefit system

i hardly think that 2.5% of the population (and the, maybe 20% of those which may be considered fundamentalist) is a threat to this country becoming islamic.

you really have to put this in perspective and realise that, just because every second story on the express is highlighing some pointless issue about muslims, it does not mean that they are a massive presence in this country. that are not.

similarly, the media tends to highlight criome. giving the impression that crime is getting steadily worse. leading people too a sense of panic and paraoia.

well, its not getting worse, it has been decreasing steadily since the 1980's.

my point? media such as this over emphasise stories they know will cause paranoia or outrage because they sell papers. there is no 'islamicisation of britian' and there never will be. there is just not enough people. and this whole thing about immigration levels and numbers of children being born is silly, because, it extrapolates current levels over the next 50 years, which is just not scientific, and not based in any historical prescedent. and even if that did happen (which it wont') for 2.5% of the population to become a significan force would take a very, very, very long time indeed.

i'll tell you what, if britian becomes an islamic state in my lifetime i will gladly put my head on a chopping block and apologise to all of you.

but you know what? it won't happen.

we need to worry about real issues to keep this country going. real issues like a pointless war, increasing personal debt, the destruction of public culture and debate, and education. not any of the islamicisation sillyness.

SHARIA LAW SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED IN BRITAIN

Any so called Sharia law courts are in fact simply Kangaroo courts. They are against the law of this country and any one practicing or taking part in such courts should be prosecuted under the terrorism acts. Also these people are proving that they have no respect for our UK legal system and should therefore be deported to a country practicing Sharia law like Saudi Arabia.

Harsh? I don't think so, very tolerant when compared to how they would fair under their vaunted Sharia law.

On Holocaust Memorial Day a group of 96 Jewish people, who were visiting sites of interest in Whitchapel, were stoned by a group of Asian (could that be Chinese, Vietnamese,Hindus, Sri Lankans perhaps?) youths. This happened last week, check out the East London advertiser.

Britain is to be the Muslim Capital of Europe and it will happen sooner than you think. As more and more Muslims join the Government it will be voted in by our own democratic systems.
With the help of the Archbishop of Canterbury it will happen even quicker. I wonder how he will feel when Canterbury Cathedral is turned into a Mosque, the Stupid fool.

Are you happy to see Islam grow to such an extent that your rights and freedoms are compromised ?

Are you burying your head in the sand?
Do you not realise the implications of an Islamic invasion ?
Do you know what an Islamic invasion is ?
It is the gradual influx of muslims into a country along with relatives, friends etc and all bearing children prolificily in order to increase the population dramatically.

Make no mistake. They are a threat to us.

Once again, you misinterpret my points.

I have not said I have witnessed such barbarism, I said I did not want it to happen here.

Muslim countries (lots of them) do allow this to happen, stonings, beheadings etc.,

I just don't want to see it happen here.

If YOU do, then bugger off to a country that practices this medieval behaviour!!

That would give all sensible people on here a break!

IS THIS MAN LOSING IT.
THIS IS A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY.DESPITE THE
FACT THAT WE HAVE WELCOMED IMMIGRANTS TO OUR COUNTRY OVER MANY YEARS, DOES NOT MEAN WE SHOULD ACCOMODATE THEIR LAWS AND BELIEFS.
IF THEY DON,T LIKE OUR LAWS THEN THEY SHOULD LEAVE GB. I WOULDN,T DREAM OF GOING LIVE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY AND THEN DEMAND THAT THEY CHANGE OR MODIFY THEIR LAWS JUST TO SUIT THE LIKES OF ME.

-how many beheadings have you seen in your neighbourhood?

Tolerant of stonings?

-how many stonings have you seen on your local high street?

Tolerant of terrorist sympathisers?

-how many terrorist sympathisers do you know?
-what proportion of muslims do you think support terrorism?

Tolerant of enforced marriages?
--because that certianly never happens in christianity (especially amongst mormons), or indeed in indian populations or in the secular world.

Tolerant of honour killings?
--again, disputes amongst family members which end in death is nothing noew. neither is the whole ideas of 'smae killings'. christians have been know to do this as well.
--anyway, how many honour killings have you seen in your area? i'm sure you've read about one or two in the news, but is this osmething you have personally been affected by?

you use these examples, but ultimately any group has one or two wacko's. and if your argument is that 'the archibishop does not live in my neighbourhood' then perhaps you can tell me how many of the above you have actually seen.

Re Call me Dave Cameron. I don't get him much either.

I would prefer David Davis as the leader.

He would likely have more chance to win an election, we need someone to get rid of Gordon (alias Jock) McBroon.

The sooner he is out of office, along with his scamming, fraudulent cronies the better!!

Thats a hoot, expecting Christians to be tolerant of Sharia law.

Tolerant of beheadings?
Tolerant of stonings?
Tolerant of terrorist sympathisers?
Tolerant of enforced marriages?
Tolerant of honour killings?

Perhaps the Archbishop can overlook this but most people who are Christian cannot.

Same goes for the Head of the Catholic church. Does he live amont all of these immigrants on a day to day basis?

No he does not!!

When they live amongst normal people, they then perhaps are qualified to comment.

The story of the Good Samaritan comes to mind.... all very well and good, and in an ideal world it would be wonderful.

.......and the expression do unto others, as they would do unto you...... and what would Sharia law do to us...

Nothing good, I can assure you.
