ARTICLE SUMMARY

Should all signs in Britain be in English?

SO much information is being translated for migrants that they no longer need to learn to speak English, a minister finally admitted yesterday.

GIVE IT TO THE V, PATV!

12.12.07, 4:08pm

You tell him! You are one of a dying breed on this web site: the true resentful, bitter hater of all things foreign and foreign religions in particular.

Keep up the good work, and don't let the commie-pinkoes take over.

Remember that we should get rid of all foreign religions. Christianity, for example, was led by beardies from the Middle East: need I say more? They were all trying to impose their will on the good people of Jerusalem and the Romans said 'Oy, Jesus, NO!!!' They didn't learn their less, oh no. They came over here and imposed their will on us!

We true people of Albion need to stand up for our rights and say to ALL foreign religions that have imposed their will on this green and pleasant land: GET OUT NOW!

VINCE

Believe it or not, no-one here is ‘persecuting’ the Muslims. Persecution is UNWARRANTED hatred. Take the Jews in Nazi Germany for example. They weren’t screaming on the streets for ‘death to those who insult Judaism’ or planting bombs in Berlin. This is NOT the case with Muslims, so we are just calling it as we see it. If it were genuine persecution, simply because we didn’t like the Muslims’ alien culture, then you’d see an equal amount of hatred towards other Asians, Blacks or Jews on this message board, but you don’t.

Gaz’s post on another discussion sums up most people’s feelings (including mine) about Muslims. He says: “Be like us, or don't be like us...Mix with us, or don't mix with us...Your choice. Just one thing, don't try to make us be like you”. Perfect summary.

Finally Vince, if you are so ‘British’, why in another discussion did you say “you people don’t even know your own history”? Tell me, who are “you people” supposed to be?

ACTUALLY PATV

12.12.07, 2:45pm

i was concurring with your bnp friend, elgar, who originally posted 'back on topic'.

i suggest to you, patv, that perhaps if you spent more time with constructive or thought out comments, and less time trying to call me a muslim (when it is clear that i am not, i am merely disapproving of sweeping statements about groups of people made in the name of divisiveness and intolernace, and which, as history has proved on occasions like the 1930's and 40's, can turn into a bit of a nightmare), you might actually get somewhere.

i know you've got it in you pat... so go on, tell me how scapegoating muslims is a productive or reasonable thing to do... what good will come of it? where is the end?

THE SPECTRE OF LIBERALISM

12.12.07, 2:31pm

There is fat too much liberalism creeping into this web site, what with Vince and Ethan agreeing. This is a dangerous trend. I don't think I am exaggerating when I say that we may be sleepwalking into commie liberalism here.

Where have all the other foreign-haters gone? Why can't we get back to the old days?

VINCE (LOL)

12.12.07, 2:30pm

Who does this w*nker Vince think he is?

He says "getting back onto the subject" as if he's some voice of authority rounding up some unruly teenagers.

And... "I think Ethan should speak for everyone" (other than Vince, that is). As for the rest of us on this message board, we are "at best, no hopers" says Vince.

Who died and made you King, Vince? I suggest you p*ss off to some Islamic country (whose values you're always extolling) and see how you do on the message boards there.

SOCIALIST WORKER

12.12.07, 11:55am

ethan,

once again, i have to say that out of all the regular posters on the 'dark side' of this forum, you are the most consistently engaging (where the others are no-hopers at best). i wish the others would just leave it up to you, to be honest.

to use your own words:

"The importation of workers from overseas, whether on a permanent or temporary basis, is a weapon used by the ruling elite against their own people. Don't blame the weapon. Blame the one who wields it. "

now what is interesting here is that I am the one accused (by some of the no-hopers) of being a 'socialist worker', yet this is right out of marx himself!

but be that as it may, your argument does have some feul. so worthy of engagement. the only problem is (and this is mirrored on our other discussion) that we live in a consumer driven, not a production-driven economy.

technology and globalisation mean that, certainly when it comes to labout intensive production, that work uses technology to outsource itself overseas (i.e. call centres and auto plants in india). in that sense, 'protection of the workers' is a ship that is already sailed. the world economy is now based on the idea of making things less and less expensive, as oppose to paying people higher and higher wages.

some of the benefits of this are that products and services become cheaper for everyone, and at the same time, inflation and interest rates are kept low (meaning more money flowing in the economy). the 80's are a good example of that happens when inflaton and interest rates got out of hand. in that time there was very little immigration here, which may have helped the situation then.

in addition, we can point to the very headline today in the express (employment at an all time high), and the fact that wages have been rising (which i referenced on the other thread) to prove that your arguments, though interesting (and admirable for recognising that the issue is class, not race, culture or foreigners), would seem to be flawed.

WELL SAID - ETHAN

Hopefully your comment will be taken on board by the pro immigrant fraternity.
However I have my doubts .
They much prefer to believe those who do not share their enthusiam for unlimited immigrants coming into Britain, are forced to be racist bigots.
Easier than facing up to the truth. Many of us are not as stupid as they would like us to be.

BACK TO THE TOPIC INDEED...

11.12.07, 2:10pm

and there wasn't one. this is a non-issue. as there is no programme to change signs (apart than to welsh, scots gaelic, and cornish gaelic). the article was spurios and without contexts or references. where does this 500 million figure come from? and what is it for? to translate all road signs to polish? is this happening? no.

in other words, a non-issue.

OF COURSE YOU CAN'T BLAME MIGRANTS.

11.12.07, 12:50pm

Vince completely misunderstands the argument (or pretends he does) if he thinks people actually blame the migrants.

It is blindingly obvious that the problem is the response of the government and other authorities to migrants. The blame lies fairly and squarely with the ruling left-wing/liberal elite. They are the ones responsible for the policies we are objecting to. And they are also the ones responsible for mass-migration in the first place.

The importation of workers from overseas, whether on a permanent or temporary basis, is a weapon used by the ruling elite against their own people. Don't blame the weapon. Blame the one who wields it.

BACK ON TOPIC

11.12.07, 12:33pm

No signs should be in foreign languages and no translation services should be made available for immigrants, unless they pay for them themselves as British subjects are forced to when abroad.

If an immigrant does not understand the language he should not be employed here in the first instance.

YEAH, ALL SIGNS SHOULD BE BRITISH!

If you get lost because you can't read English, the authorities should be glad to escort you back the way you came in!!!!!

TO BLAME

10.12.07, 5:56pm

migrants for these issues is completely narrowminded. the idea that immigrants are a 'drain' on the economy is silly. when immigrants land, they have no recourse to public funds (it says so in their passports). A large portion of international immigrants arrive already with jobs, most of the rest have family which are charged with looking after them.
they get jobs, pay taxes while they are young, claim very little on the nhs (becasue they are young), then a good protion of them leave, never to collect a pension or much on the nhs.

'asylum seekers' (a much smaller number) are 'given recourse to public funds for a very short period of time, as they are NOT ALLOWED to work while their claims are being processed.

if you have a problem of where money is spent and squandered, look to the far more important issues of avoidance of tax by the wealthy and large corporations, look at a huge military bill. don't look at immigrants.

you spend all of your time looking 'sideways' and blaming other working people when you should be looking 'upwards' to the real 'parasites'.
