BACK TO BASICS

Published: Saturday October 11,2008 by stevewo

And we have to get back to what the City was set-up for.
It was established to assist companies to grow and prosper by issuing shares for all to take part in.
And also to "look after" our financial futures (pensions ) etc.
But the whole idea of holding shares for half-an-hour and selling at a profit is surely nothing more than gambling.
It does not help any company in any way.
It's reckless gambling that's creating the mess, and will always be so, without regulation.
I used to day-trade shares, and it was very obvious that it was benefitting no-one except me.
Also, investment funds and hedge funds have become so big and powerful that they can actually affect the markets that they are trading in, thereby "manipulating" the outcome.
The regulations have not caught up with this yet.
