If he could go back to 2001 again, what would GB do differently?
Put the lid on the rampant property market?(maximum 90% mortgages and higher interest rates, and no self certifying.) (80% max mortgage for buy-to let).(Proper bank valuation for every property.)
Put the lid on the credit card market? (A central info pool for all credit card cos).
Put the lid on banks borrowing on wholesale markets way beyond their means?
Put the lid on banks buying overseas mortgages.
Put the lid on massive self-destructive banking bonuses?
If he could have his time again, he would certainly do that lot.
And the City "masters of the universe"?....be very wary of them.
