To politicians, this nation is akin to a goldfish bowl.

In the Utopian rose-tinted world of Labour, the birds are singing, all the flowers are in full bloom and the gr**** is neatly mown. They have gotten to the point where they are totally convinced by their own lies and spin.

What a pity that we can't inhabit the same perfectionist planet. I foresee a plethora of tax cuts (bribes) and populist 'hands on' initiatives in the run up to the 2010 election. The saddest thing is that will still be those that will buy the lies all over again.

As a footnote. I loved Ian Hislop's comment on Question Time last night....

"Gordon Brown said he'd abolish boom and bust.....he's abolished boom".
