In a few words:

I am wondering why you cannot understand ..............

1. there is a large prescedent for many religions to have thier own rules within the legal system. Jewish people in this country are a godo example of that. also sihks are allowed not to wear helmets when driving a motorcycle if they have thier headress on. your desire to curtail the right of one minority go against decades, even centuries of tradition in this country.

2. if you believe in the british tradition of freedom, then there is no way that you can object to how people dress. and your comments about the bhurka and suicide bombers is just hilarious. when has a suicide bomber anytime, anywhere used a bhurka? and driving? my god, what kind of a desprate plea is that? that really is silly, and you know it.

I am wondering why you cannot understand what I am saying here regarding dress code. I am not on about the burka but rather the niqab simply because it covers nearly the entire face. Where does a Sikh turban or a Yarmulke cover the face?. Even orthodox jewish women wear a wig to hide their own hair but do not cover their face.

I don't know if you read the news but a would be suicde bomber did try to escape this country by wearing a burka and niqab. It is a piece of attire that should be banned outright in this country and my comment about the possibility of suicide bombers wearing a niqab is far from hilarious especially considering the implications should a bomb go off.

I have seen muslim women in full burka and niqab with only narrow slits acroos the eyes driving and there is no way that women dressed in this way have a good field of vision.

We have had muslims living in this country for over 40years and most muslim women were from Pakistan or of Pakistani origin and in all those years I never ever saw one muslim woman wearing a burka let alone a niqab. Most wore the salwar kameez except for some of the young girls who were really westernised. Now thanks to the preachings in the mosques and the 9/11 and 7/7 bombings we now see a rapid increase in the wearing of this attire by muslims women. I don't know if they are wearing it by choice or that their husbands, fathers, etc have forced them to wear it. What I do believe is however is that it is now being worn as a kind of political uniform to make a statement to not only the government but the British people. It wasn't worn in the past and there is no need for it to be worn now. Originally muslims used to cover their faces in the desert to protect them from sandstorms.

Wonder what the government and people would say if the IRA came here and walked around in their berets and their scarves and hoods covering their faces.
