"however I find the wearing of the niqab (face veil ) offensive to British society and especially myself. This item of attire should be banned"

--your offence is your offence. i am offended and annoyed when i see shaven headed men with tatoos walking down the high street with an obvious attitude problem.

should the law be changed to restrict their freedom because I have a problem with them? of course not.

should a law be made to force emo kids to wear their trousers properly and not halfway down thier backsides like they do?

--no.

your opinions about how people dress, and what you are offended by are YOUR problem. no one elses.

Sorry but parts of this comment is hilarious. The niqab is a piece of attire that covers a persons face leaving only the eyes showing, this veil could very well be hiding a would be suicide bomber, bank robber etc. There is no comparison between a niqab and the way that people wear their hair or trowsers etc as they are not obscuring their faces.

I find your comment offensive and childish as you seem intent on insulting people who want the niqab banned for the very reasons that it hides ones face and is a form of intimidation to non muslims.

Motorcyclists who wear a crash helmet and visor have to remove this item when entering a bank, and this item is worn purely as a means of saving their lives if involved with a collision so why should women wearing full face veil be allowed to do so in banks?

Of course you have your own agenda for defending the wearing of the veil and that is your prerogative, but you will find most people are very critical of it and want it banned. It is ridiculous for the government to allow women wearing this garment to be allowed behind the wheel of a car. There is no way that some of the niqabs allow a woman to see properly.
