Martin you are in two minds

On the one hand you think that YouTube should be fined for showing ganstas posing with guns and showing happy slap videos. On the other you love the banana song and all the other sillyness as well as the serious stuff about wildlife.

There is more on YouTube than you can imagine. If you can imagine something then you can go and look for it. YouTube as with the rest of the Internet does not PUSH things at you through a limited number of channels. It's up to you to go and look for it.

Don't you think it's significant that your children are singing the Banana Phone song rather than seeking out the violent and distasteful items?

TV and Films are able to show the most horrific violence in a way that is realistic yet without any shock or pain. A bit like eating meat without knowing animals were killed for it.

The opening 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan is far more what I want my children to know about war than most of the Gung Ho war films that show death and killing as heroic.

You are spot on when you say that the success of YouTube is because it is not like TV. Ofcourse the government want to regulate it. Have you seen any of the videos available at www.wearechange.org.uk ?

In my opionion YouTube should not be fined because someone shows something illegal. However the police should be encouraged to investigate crimes shown on YouTube. As with the case of the young mother raped by a child, which was her claim. It turned out to be that she was the one comitting the crime.

There are other crimes shown on YouTube that remain uninvestigated.
