Here's why more men don't volunteer in primary schools

It's because they are only too well aware that they would be suspected of being paedophiles! Anyone with half a brain would (or should) realise that because of this very fear, most decent men will never find the courage to try to obtain such posts (for who could bear such harsh societal judgment?), and therefore the only ones who usually will attempt will probably be confirmed paedophiles. (After all, they would be the only ones who would have a motive--other than financial reward--for wanting to be around those kids.) There probably are exceptions to what I'm saying here (and if so, God bless them!), but nevertheless, THINK about what I am saying. ... That this is the case, is a sad commentary on our times, for surely this article is correct--that small boys do definitely benefit from older male role models. I would even go so far as to say that the paedophile scare has utterly sundered the generations, and left an entire generation of boys and young men literally starved for adult male affection--an affection which is vital for their developing self-esteem! I think future historians will look back on this time, and compare it to the gutting of the "Great War" generation. So how does society solve this problem--allowing and even encouraging adult men to spend quality time around young boys not biologically their own, yet preventing paedophiles from gaining access to them? Seems an unresolvable conflict, doesn't it? And I have no answer for it, either (at least, none likely to win wide approval ...). Society could, of course, consider the radical solution, but I seriously doubt that will ever happen. Too many phobias, prejudices, and irrational animal emotions stand in the way of reason and basic common sense (alas).
