When did the British Army last go to war to protect
Britain? It wasn't 2003, that was to protect Bush's ego. It wasn't 1991 that was to protect the Kuwaitis.
It wasn't 1939, that was to protect the Poles.
It wasn't 1914, that was to protect the Belgians.
It wasn't 1854, that was to protect the Turks.

The Napoleonic Wars?

Obviously most of those wars grew into something we could see as protecting ourselves (not Iraq or the Crimea though) but deep down it does kind of look like the British Army is habitually sent to war to protect foreigners
