so what are these subtle ways?

so far you have not given any reason whatsoever why you 'were not welcome'.

could you be laking it up?
could it all be in your head?
could it be your own insecurities?

i lived in a mostly muslim neighbourhood for two years. never any problem with anyone. you visit bradford one afternoon, and seemingly nothing happens to you but you still 'feel unwelcome'.
