It would be good to draw a line under it as you say but I don't think that should happen until people remember or realise that it is due to slavery that Britain is such a rich country and stop blaming IMMIGRANTS for everything. Commonwealth immigrants are OWED. And that is the truth of the matter. Drawing a line under it is like a denial.
