The first thing we do is have a General Election

Published: Wednesday May 28,2008 by Judgemental

I see Mr Brown has said this morning:

"There is "no easy answer" to the global oil problem as the world faces its "third great oil shock".

The first thing that has to happen is a General Election with an elected Prime Minister, along with party members the British public, consider capable of running the country and sorting the oil fiasco out. Also hopefully people they can trust.

Until that happens, this country will slide into an apocalyptic financial disaster. House Prices will fall by at least 40% in the next six months, fuel will continue to rise and as a consequence so will food costs. Interest rates, your guess is as good as mine. If the Bank of England are going to contain inflation to the prerequisite levels - say 8/9% Base or MLR depending on one's age group.

It seems that many of the contributors on this site are mature and measured in their comments.

No doubt they can all remember Denis Healy (Labour) going cap in hand to the International Monetary Fund to bail us out back in the '70's.

Nothing has changed, save for the fact, the policy of so called New Labour, was still have an economy run on debt but debt created and shouldered by individuals - instead of the state as in Healy's day.

What they New Labour, did not bargain for, is the reckless way in which so called bankers lent money to the US housing market. Housing Market! So called sub-prime lending or in understandable vernacular - Trailer Park Trash! Sometimes I gather some of the properties did not even exist.

Let us not forget who the 'overseer' of those reckless banks was at the time - none other than one Gordon Brown. aka Fiscal-Prudence aka Golden-Rule.

If he was an employee of any company, he would have been dismissed for rank incompetance.
