A HEAVY PRICE IS INDEED BEING PAID

Published: Tuesday May 27,2008 by panadero

Thanks must go to Noway for his/her painstaking catalogue of the disproportionate costs of immigration - confirming reports from the House of Lords and Migrationwatch. My suspicion is that the Bank of England and HM Treasury have engineered all this immigration in the belief that it will keep down wages - and therefore inflation. Hence Brown's role.
But surely, aside from the economics, is not a heavier price being extracted, namely the irreparable damage to the social fabric of our society, to our sense of identity and to our social cohesion? Of course these are issues which do not appear on the profit and loss balance sheet of the anoraks at the Treasury and the Bank of England.
I have examined all the political election manifestos of the main parties going back to 1964 and I can find no evidence to indicate that any main political party has ever felt the need to consult the British people on these momentous issues.
