The 'Shopping Basket'

Published: Tuesday April 15,2008 by SOMERTON

The government apparently have a 'notional shopping basket' of 600 everyday items, which they use to calculate the rate of inflation.
I wonder how long it has been since this list was updated. I believe it was done fairly recently, but it quite clearly needs updating again. The real rate of inflation which we actually FEEL on a day to day basis is MUCH higher.
And why are wages not keeping pace with it?
It's a route to the poor house!
