Emergency landing for easyJet plane

There has been a number of recent cases of the lower cost flight carriers having emergency problems and one has to ask the simple question; Have costs been cut to far and are they affecting passenger safety?
There is a limit to any airline companies ability to operate and adhere to passenger safety I feel.
Thank goodness in this latest incident the plane managed to land OK without problems for the passengers apart from fuirther delays.
