Graduates 'better off on dole'...What a stupid headline

There used to be a time when you could find anthropology graduates serving in petrol stations or graduate teachers working as bar staff etc. as they sought placement to better use the knowledge they had gained.

The whole idea that university graduates, by virtue of actually stdying and then obtaining a degree have demonstrated a level of intelligence or "educatable intellect" for want of a better word, that should enable them to quickly learn and grasp the principles of most skilled trades or professions seems to have gone out of the window now-a-days.

So why bother shelf stacking at Aldi when you can with your "bright mental attitude" easily become a plumber, electrician,motor vehicle technician with a little more hands on training to add to your capacity to learn quickly.

I think in the main, the depression element springs from having to face the hard reality of having to work for a living instead of "just doing my own thing".
